Ryan Barney

Head Fund Fellow

Ryan previously worked as a research analyst for Greywolf Capital, an event-driven hedge fund in Purchase, New York. Over his two years at Greywolf, Ryan worked as a generalist, covering special situations investments across the capital structure. Prior to Greywolf, Ryan worked for two years as a credit strategy analyst for RBS. Ryan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cornell University's Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management and is a CFA charterholder. He will be interning at Lead Edge Capital this summer.

Jonathan Chan

Co-Director of Research

Prior to Wharton, Jonathan worked at Francisco Partners, a technology focused private equity firm. During his two years at FP, Jonathan focused on investments in technology and technology-enabled service businesses. Prior to that, he was an investment banking analyst at Evercore Partners in its Technology M&A Group. He graduated from The University of Western Ontario with degrees in business and engineering. He will be interning at Tourbillon Capital Partners this summer.

Kern Vijayvargiya

Co-Director of Research

Prior to Wharton, Kern was most recently a private equity Associate at Golden Gate Capital. Previously, Kern was a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company. He will be interning at Coatue this summer.

Julia Pei

Director of Trading & Performance

Prior to Wharton, Julia worked at Equity Group Investments, the Zell family office. During her two years at EGI, Julia focused on public and private investing across various sectors. Prior to that, she was an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse in its Power & Renewables Group. She graduated from The University of Chicago with a degree in economics. She will be interning at Fidelity Investments this summer.

Stanley Qun Guo

Director of Training

Prior to Wharton, Stanley worked at UBS Investment Bank, where he focused on financial institutions in Asia and covered various sectors in the Greater China region. Stanley graduated Summa Cum Laude from NYU Stern School of Business with a B.S. degree in finance and economics. He will be interning at Fidelity Investments this summer.

Ceci Zhang

Director of Alumni

Prior to Wharton, Ceci worked at Neuberger Berman on private equity and credit investments across different sectors. Prior to that, she worked as an investment banking analyst at Citigroup Global Industrials Group. Ceci graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Economics & Mathematics, and is a CFA charterholder. She will be interning at Surveyor this summer.

Andrew Chang

Andrew previously worked at Darlington Partners, a concentrated, value-oriented fund in the SF Bay Area. During his three years, he was a generalist with primarily focused on media/telecom investments. Prior to Darlington, he covered consumer and TMT investments at Goldman Sachs Investment Partners, an $8Bn long/short equity hedge fund. Andrew graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi from Stanford University. Andrew will be interning at Parnassus Investments in San Francisco this summer.

David McGinley

David previously worked at Oaktree Capital Management, a global alternative investment management firm. During his two years at Oaktree, David worked across multiple industries focused on credit strategies and distressed opportunities. He graduated from the University of Virginia and will be working at Surveyor Capital this summer.

Sam Bitetti

Sam spent five years in US equity research at T. Rowe Price, where he worked both as a generalist on the large cap growth team and as a consumer analyst in centralized research. Sam also spent one year as an analyst/PM at a family office, and three years as a research associate at Thomas Weisel Partners. Sam graduated from Bowdoin College, and is a CFA charterholder.

Ben Zhou

Ben previously worked at Castanea Partners, a $1 billion AUM private equity firm focused on consumer/retail. He has also worked at Gap, Inc., and at the Boston Consulting Group. He graduated from Harvard College. Ben will be interning at Capital Group this summer.

Coby Powers

Prior to Wharton, Coby served as a private equity associate with Francisco Partners, where he was responsible for executing investments across the technology industry, and as an investment banking analyst with J.P. Morgan, where he was responsible for executing M&A and financing transactions within the healthcare industry. Coby holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He will be interning at Fidelity Investments this summer.

Gaurav Wallia

Gaurav previously co-founded and led a retail brand in India targeted towards young adults. Prior to that, he was an analyst in Citibank India's corporate banking team covering clients in the auto, technology and industrial sectors for three and a half years. He graduated from Mumbai University. He will be interning at Sustainable Growth Advisers, a concentrated long-only firm this summer.
