Originally founded in 1994 as a balanced fund that invested in multiple asset classes, the Fund adhered to a small-cap value investment discipline between 1996 and 2010. During 2011, the Fund received an additional $300,000 capital infusion and expanded the Fund mandate from small-cap to all-cap.
The Fund provides the opportunity for Wharton MBA students to gain hands-on experience in the investment management industry that enhances lessons learned in both classroom and work environments. It is officially managed by twelve Fund Fellows, all of whom are current Wharton MBA students. The success of the Fund, however, is not possible without the involvement of many other Wharton MBA students who have an interest in investment management. In addition to acting as Fund Fellows, students may become Fund Analysts by presenting investment ideas to the Fund at weekly meetings. Each year, the Fund Fellows review over one hundred investment recommendations from current Wharton MBA students.
The Wharton Investment Management Fund is a key component of the Wharton Investment Management Club, and is open to all current IM Club members. Questions about the Wharton Investment Management Fund can be directed to Amanda Ho, Head Fund Fellow, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
